“Regular Membership" is open to individuals who are registered with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) as Private Investigators. To become a “regular” member of the Association, please complete and submit an application for membership to the Association, along with the initial payment of your annual dues. After information in your application has been validated, and your candidacy has been submitted to the membership of the Association for comment, the Board of Directors of the Association will determine your suitability for membership by majority vote. After acceptance as a “regular” member, an individual is entitled to vote in matters affecting the activities and governance of the association; to hold elected or appointed office in the Association; and to enjoy all other privileges of membership.
“Associate Membership" is open to all persons who are licensed as a private investigator in a state or states other than the Commonwealth of Virginia; to persons who are registered by DCJS in other private security categories; and/or to persons who support the goals of the Association and work in areas related to the private security industry. This membership is open only to individuals and is not transferable. To obtain “associate” membership in PIAVA, please complete and submit an application for membership to the Association along with your initial annual dues payment. After information in your application has been validated and your identity has been submitted to the membership of the Association for comment, the Board of Directors of the Association will decide your suitability for associate membership by majority vote. Although Associate Members are not entitled to vote in matters affecting the governance of PIAVA or to hold elected or appointed office, they enjoy all other privileges of membership.
