Principal Members:
Shall be any private investigator registered with the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). This membership is open only to individuals and is not transferable. Principal Members are entitled to full rights at all association meetings, except Board of Directors meetings, unless the member is a director. Application fee and Initial Dues are $50.00. Annual dues are $45.00. Duly licensed private security services businesses are featured on the association's Company Directory.

Affiliate Members:
Shall be open to licensed private investigators from States other than Virginia; to individuals who are registered by DCJS in other private security categories; and industry related individuals who support the goals of PIAVA and agree to abide by our Code of Ethics. Application fee and initial dues are $40.00. Annual dues are $35.00. Affiliate members are listed in the Member's Only section of the association's website.

Application must be accompanied by the appropriate fees and dues (which are non- refundable) and proof of registration or license. Applications will be reviewed by the Board of Directors and forwarded for consideration at the next membership meeting.
